A muffler heat shield can reduce interior temperatures and protect nearby components. Heatshield Products Muffler Armor™ uses our BioCool thermal-barrier material to withstand 1,800 degrees F of continuous heat, which helps reduce radiant heat from mufflers by up to 70 percent.

Heat from the car’s mufflers can be conducted through the floorboards and increase the interior temperatures to uncomfortable levels. For more rearward mounted mufflers, that same heat can raise trunk temps where there is little or no airflow to help release the heat. In addition to cooking whatever you’re carrying in your trunk, if you have a trunk-mounted fuel cell, that heat can elevate fuel temps and hurt performance, along with increasing the risk of vapor lock. Muffler Heat Shield Armor™ helps to solve these problems.

Is a Muffler Heat Shield Necessary

Besides reducing temperatures in the passenger and trunk compartments of your car, the muffler shield material keeps the heat in the muffler, helping to maintain high exhaust gas temperatures. This increases exhaust-flow velocity, helping to improve engine efficiency and performance.

Our muffler heat shield wrap installs easily and securely using Heatshield Products stainless steel locking Thermal-Tie™, and it is water- and chemical-resistant for increased durability and longevity.

Why can’t I wrap my entire catalytic converter with this heat shield?

Muffler Armor is too efficient at keeping heat in the system. It is important to not over insulate your catalytic converter and shorten its lifespan.

Is it was to trim and cut the Muffler Armor Heat Shield?

Yes, the Muffler Armor can easily be trimmed with a heavy duty pair of scissors or utility knife.

Why should I only cover the top half of my muffler?

Muffler Armor is so efficient at retaining heat, it is not necessary to completely cover the muffler like you would with an exhaust wrap. You can see better heat retention by using this muffler heat shield on one side vs. wrapping the entire muffler with an exhaust wrap.

Will this muffler and catalytic converter heat shield rattle?

No, the Muffler Amor lays directly on the exhaust system. Unlike inefficient shields that bold on and stand off from the exhaust, this lays directly on your muffler or catalytic converter. As long as it is installed properly, the Muffler Armor can be used to replace a rattle in a factory heat shield.

How many metal locking ties does the Muffler Armor come with?

Our single Muffler Armor Kit comes with 3, 46-inch long by 5/16-inch wide ties. The two pack of muffler heat shields comes with 6 of these ties.

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be in the products that Californians purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment.
