Keep Cool on Your Motorcycle Using Heatshield Motorcycle Heat Protection ProductsMotorcycle heat protection product installed on old motorcycle frame.

What’s more exhilarating than enjoying a cruise on your motorcycle? Feeling the wind across your body as you enjoy the freedom of the open road is invigorating. But feeling the heat on the inside of your legs or your riding boots melting? Not so much.

The heat from a motorcycle engine can ruin your fun and cause performance and reliability issues. But this is preventable with motorcycle heat protection solutions from Heatshield Products. Our motorcycle pipe wraps and other motorcycle heat shields help to keep ambient heat under control.

Here are some simple ways to use our motorcycle heat protection products:

Motorcycle exhaust pipes can be a huge ambient heat source. If the pipes aren’t stylized, they can end up looking unfinished or corroded after constant exposure to the elements. Installing a high-quality motorcycle pipe wrap, such as our Moto Lava Exhaust Heat Wrap, keeps most of the heat in the pipes and also looks great.

Exhaust pipes put out a lot of heat, but that can be minimized with a high-temp motorcycle pipe wrap. With a temperature rating of 1,200° Fahrenheit, the Motor Lava Exhaust Wrap withstands the heat from even high-horsepower motors. Specially formulated volcanic rock fibers give it a carbon-fiber-style look, our motorcycle exhaust heat shields can make exhaust pipes look like-new. Installation is simple. And you don’t need to soak the motorcycle pipe wrap in water first. It can be removed then reinstalled whenever necessary. Because it doesn’t contain fiberglass, your hands and legs won’t get itchy if they come in contact with it.

Motorcycles need heat protection from mid-frame mounted air deflectors as extremely hot air passes across their surface. This can create severe discomfort in the thigh or leg if they come in contact with it. Using HP Sticky Shield™ on the backside of the deflector can drastically reduce the amount of heat the deflector soaks up.

There are several types of fairing heat shields available for air-cooled motorcycles to help direct hot air from the rear engine cylinder(s) away from the rider. However, after constant heat exposure, the deflector, even if made of plastic, can still heat up.

One solution is to add a motorcycle pipe wrap as a thermal barrier on the backside of the deflector. Our HP Sticky Shield™ helps to reduce heat absorption making the deflector more efficient. It features a built-in, high-temp adhesive backing for easy installation. Since it’s only .125 inch thick, it can be cut and shaped to almost any type of air deflector. HP Sticky Shield™ can withstand up to 1,100° F of constant heat and is still effective with less than 1 inch of air space.

Plastic loom material is a poor protector from motorcycle heat and abrasion damage. Using a high-quality thermal-barrier sleeve material such as Lava Tube™ gives superior protection and superior looks.

You spent good money to buy your motorcycle and to make it look awesome. Our Lava Tube™ thermal-barrier sleeving looks great with its volcanic-rock–based fibers. It also protects lines and harnesses from constant high heat and abrasion damage, with a heat rating of 1,200° F. The built-in, high-temp hook-and-loop fastening system makes Lava Tube™ easy to install, remove, and follow the bends in fluid lines and wiring harnesses.

If you have multiple lines to protect from ambient heat, you can also get one of our HP Builder’s Kits to fully encase everything. Packed with our protective thermal barrier sleeving that can withstand up to 1,200° F of continuous ambient heat, the special motorcycle heat protection weave allows the sleeve to expand over lines and wires for easy installation and removal when necessary. The kit comes with 1/2-inch, 5/16-inch, and 5/8-inch diameter sleeves. To secure the sleeves for a nice and neat look, you can use our HP Thermal Ties, HP Tie Wire, or some heat-shrink tubing.
