What’s more exhilarating then enjoying a cruise on your motorcycle? Feeling the wind across your body as you enjoy the freedom of the open road. Feeling the heat on the inside of your legs or your riding boots melting…well, not so much.
Heat from the motorcycle engine can ruin your fun and cause performance and reliability issues. But this is preventable, especially when you use thermal barriers from Heatshield Products to keep ambient heat under control.
Here are some simple ways to use our products:
ABOVE: Motorcycle exhaust pipes can be a huge ambient heat source. On top of that, if the pipes aren’t stylized/finished, they can end up looking nasty after constant exposure to the elements. Installing a high-quality exhaust wrap such as Moto Lava Exhaust Wrap keeps a lot of the heat in the pipes and also looks great.
Motorcycle exhaust pipes put out a lot of ambient heat, but that can be minimized/negated with our Moto Lava Exhaust Wrap high-temp exhaust wrap. With a temperature rating of 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit constant heat, Motor Lava Exhaust Wrap withstands the heat from even high-horsepower motors. Specially formulated volcanic rock fibers give it a carbon-fiber-style look, and it can make crusty-looking exhaust pipes good-looking. Installation is simple. No need to soak Moto Lava Exhaust Wrap in water first. And it can be removed then reinstalled whenever necessary. Because it doesn’t contain fiberglass, you don’t have to worry about getting itchy hands or legs if you come in contact with it.
Mid-Frame Air Deflectors
ABOVE: Mid-frame–mounted air deflectors can heat up from the extremely hot air that passes across their surface, creating some severe comfort issues if your thigh/leg comes in contact. Using HP Sticky Shield™ on the back side of the deflector can drastically reduce the amount of heat the deflector soaks up.
There are several types of air deflectors available for air-cooled motorcycles to help direct hot air from the rear engine cylinder(s) away from the rider. However, after constant heat exposure, the deflector, even if made of plastic, can still heat up.
A solution is to add a thermal barrier on the backside of the deflector. Our HP Sticky Shield™ helps to reduce heat absorption and make the deflector more efficient. It features a built-in, high-temp adhesive backing for easy installation. Since it’s only .125 inch thick, it can be cut and shaped to almost any type of air deflector. HP Sticky Shield™ can withstand up to 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit of constant heat, and it will still be effective with less than 1 inch of air space.
Wire/Fluid Line Coverings and Protection
ABOVE: Plastic loom material not only looks cheap and unattractive, but it’s also a poor protector from ambient heat and abrasion damage. Using a high-quality thermal-barrier sleeve material such as Lava Tube™ gives superior protection and superior looks.
You spent good money to buy your motorcycle and to make it look awesome. So, why would you use chintzy-looking plastic loom material? A better solution is our Lava Tube™ thermal-barrier sleeving.
