During installation, there is one aspect of Sticky Shield that can prove to be a tad problematic and/or frustrating. Covering the high-temp adhesive on the back of Sticky Shield is a protective backing.

Peeling this backing material away can be a challenge, but you can remove it easily and quickly with our latest installation tech tip, so it doesn’t slow down your installation.

Quick Tips To Peel And Stick Adhesive Backed Heat Shield

Here are a few easy and quick tips to peel HP Sticky Shield:

HP Sticky Shield

Sticky™ Shield is a versatile thermal barrier material that can deflect up to 90% of radiant heat away from whatever it’s protective with just one inch of air space between it and the heat source. Its specially formulated Kool CoreTM insulation allows it to withstand up to 1100 degrees F radiant heat, along with its 3-mil thick aluminum outer sheeting. Its adhesive backing makes installation on almost any clean surface a breeze, but removing the protective covering on the adhesive can be frustrating

The way to tell if you’re pulling the protective covering off correctly is if the adhesive backing surface is smooth and shiny. If you see any fibers coming up, you’ve pulled the adhesive backing off the Kool CoreTM insulation. The simple trick to peel the covering off effortlessly, use the tip of a sharp razor knife. Take the tip and in one corner pointing towards the outside of the Sticky™ Shield insert the tip of the razor just enough to puncture the protective covering. Then use the tip of the blade to pull the covering back.

It’s as simple as that. The adhesive backing on Sticky™ Shield is shiny and smooth, with no fibrous material visible. Sticky™ Shield’s adhesive backing will stick to almost any clean surface, though not recommended for unfinished fiberglass or carbon fiber.
