It’s winter, which means it’s at least three and a half months until things warm back up (for a lot of people) and they can bring their rides out of hibernation and get ready for a new season of cruising or racing. It also means it’s time to really get started on those winter projects to fix things and to make improvements in order to enjoy the drive even more in the new decade.

This is the perfect opportunity to add some Heatshield Products to whatever you’re working on to increase performance and comfort. After a thorough bench racing and brainstorming session at the office watercooler, we came up with suggestions for which Heatshield Products should be at the top of your list.

Stealth Floor Shield™

The newest addition to the Heatshield Products lineup, Stealth Floor Shield™, is specially formulated to block up to 90 percent of heat while also being fire resistant. This helps reduce interior temperatures and, in a worst-case scenario, provides a precious extra few moments during a fire situation for the driver and passengers to escape. Encased in a special carbon-fiber outer layer, Stealth Floor Shield is only 1/8-inch thick while also being 45 percent lighter than previous floor shield products. Capable of handling a constant 900 degrees F of direct contact heat, It drastically cuts interior temperatures while only adding a miniscule amount of weight. Together with either the new MagnaMount™ magnetic attachment or traditional grommets, you can easily remove Stealth Floor Shield when maintenance requires.

Lava Tube™

If you’re installing a new wiring harness this winter or looking to give your engine compartment a fresh look, the first thing to do is pick up some rolls of our Lava Tube™ thermal-barrier sleeving. Lava Tube is made from Heatshield Products specially formulated volcanic rock thermal-barrier material. It protects the wiring harness from the damaging effects of heat and abrasion, while giving the harness a clean, carbon-fiber–like look. Thanks to a built-in, high-temp, hook-and-loop fastening system, Lava Tube installs without the need to unplug the harness (most of the time) and is just as easy to remove if necessary. This gets you a show-winning look with superior protection.

db Skin™

Just like unwanted heat inside a vehicle can ruin a good ride, unwanted noise and vibrations can do the same. While the interior is bare is a great opportunity to brush or spray on Heatshield Products db Skin™ liquid acoustic-barrier material. You can use a brush, roller or “shutz” spray gun to apply the material. If you get it on you or an area you didn’t intend to it will wash off with warm water if not dry yet. With the abilty to damp structural vibrations over a 10 to 40 KHz frequency range, db Skin stops the unwanted noise while helping to improve sound system amplifier power; db Skin–coated speaker boxes see improvements of 1-3 decibels. It’s also great on factory restoration projects where you have to maintain an original look, and want to conceal improvements.

I-M Shield™

Very few products today can deliver a solid horsepower gain of up to 20 horsepower while costing you less than 100 bucks. The Heatshield Products I-M Shield™ does just that as well as increasing torque. In only 2-3 hours of installation time, I-M Shield on your engine can realize those gains, all without modifying anything. From LS/LT engines and Coyote V-8s to Jeep Wrangler V-6s, I-M Shield works to shield the intake from heat radiated by the engine, with cooler air running through the intake manifold. You can read our dyno tests to see the results it provides and to see how easy installation is. If you only do one upgrade to the ride this winter, the I-M Shield™ is what you should do!

Heatshield Armor™/Muffler Armor

Keeping more heat in your exhaust system provides three major benefits: Firstly, it helps increase exhaust gas temperatures, which raises exhaust gas velocity that improves scavenging of exhaust gasses from the combustion chamber. On turbo vehicles that reduces turbo lag. Secondly, it significantly cuts down on the heat radiated by the exhaust system that wears any components in close proximity to the exhaust system. Thirdly, it means less heat being into the passenger and trunk compartments, helping to improve interior comfort and making your A/C system more effective. Heatshield Armor™ is the most effective exhaust insulation you can buy, reducing exhaust system radiated heat by 70 percent. It’s easy to install and remove when used with Heatshield Products HP Power Anchor™Kit system. If you’re installing a new exhaust system his winter or just looking for ways to improve your ride overall, Heatshield Armor™ provides multiple benefits, with results every time you fire up your ride to enjoy a cruise or hit the racetrack.

db Headliner Kit™

The top of your ride can be a major gateway for heat and noise to enter your interior just as the bottom can. Heatshield Products db Headliner Kit™ is a simple way to stop heat penetration via your roof. The kit includes our db Skin™ liquid acoustic-barrier material and our specially formulated HP Stealth Shield™ material to stop heat. All you need to do is remove your headliner, apply both products, then reinstall the headliner. The db Headliner Kit won’t affect headliner fitment, and since no one will ever see what’s been done, it can be installed on stock-resto vehicles for a big improvement in interior comfort, especially on vehicles without air conditioning.
