Lagging wraps can reduce radiant heat damage and keep operations and vehicles functioning smoothly. Exhaust insulating wraps have long been used for power-generation and mobile military operations. Retaining heat inside the exhaust system protects vital components and can reduce fatigue in personnel.

Trapping heat inside the exhaust system allows gases to flow out of the system faster. This increases scavenging and can significantly reduce back pressure during valve overlap in the combustion cycle.
