Industrial Lava Heat Shield Mat
Continuous operating temperature of 1200°F, 2000°F intermittent
Capable of reducing up to 80% of radiant heat
0.025" Thick
Bulk rolls available, up to 150' long, 47" wide
Made in the USA
If you’ve got extreme heat in a tight space, bypass cheap foil vinyl stickers and apply this industrial-strength Lava Shield mat to get the results you’re looking for. Made from volcanic basalt, this 0.025-inch thick industrial Lava heat shield mat is designed to be used in industrial applications with, ideally, more than 1 inch between the heat source and the components you want to protect. In event instances, however, the shield can be installed with less than 1 inch of space.
By providing a rugged reflective surface, our Lava Shield mat can reflect up to 80% of radiant heat keeping the material underneath nice and cool. In contrast to our regular automotive heat shield and thermal barriers, we’ve designed this industrial heat shield barrier to hold fast to super-hot surfaces while remaining functional in the harshest of environments by making it chemical-, weather-, and acid-resistant.
Where to Use Your Industrial Lava Mat Heat Shield
Proven to withstand temperatures up to 1200°F direct continuous and 2000°F intermittent, you can safely apply the Lava mat heat shield to:
- Cabs
- Floor pans
- Transmission tunnels
- Body panels
- Air intake boxes
Simply use a razor and scissors to cut the mat to size, and press onto your intended, clean surface for 30 seconds.

Required tools:
- Patience
- Carburetor cleaner or other degreaser
- Pre-paint cleaner, isoproyl alchohol or other non residue cleaner
- Heavy duty scissors or utility knife
- Optional - poster board or heavy paper
PRO TIP #1 - Use poster board or butcher paper to make a template. For surfaces with severe bends, it may be necessary to cut relief lines or wedges to get product to conform. Transfer template to Lava Shield and cut.
PRO TIP #2 - Provided by Kevin Byrd of “Two Guys Garage” fame, use super glue on the cut edges to give Lava Shield a fray free and custom edge. You can also use clear high-temperature engine paint on edges if fraying does occur.
PRO TIP #3 - Lava Shield may have wrinkles in it. Wrinkles can be removed during the installation process. You can also lay Lava Shield flat, and let it rest overnight with a heavy flat object on top of it to remove wrinkles before installation.
- Panel or component surface temperature should be at least 65°F when applying, sticking onto anything colder may not allow adhesive to set up properly.
- Degrease and clean surface of any residual chemicals, using carburetor spray or other cleaner/degreaser.
- We strongly recommend rubbing the surface with a pre-paint cleaner or isopropyl alcohol (or other non-residue cleaner) after cleaning and degreasing.
- Carefully peel the adhesive backing off the Lava Shield. Start peeling from one corner.
- Lay the Lava Shield, start on one edge of panel or component and work out slowly to ensure no “bubbles” occur. Air bubbles will cause the material to not stick and fall off.
- Press the Lava Shield firmly onto the panel/component. Hold while pressing down for 2 minutes.
