Why can’t I just order another one of the heat shield fabrics you make for my oven?
We do not recommend anything that is fibrous to be used near food. While none of the materials have anything respirable, we don’t like hair in our food, do you? The Sticky™ Shield uses a dense, fiberglass almost like a foam. Each kit also includes and edging tape that should definitely be used to seal any edges or seams.
What do I use to remove the kitchen heat shield if I make any changes in the future?
The best way to remove the shield is by carefully peeling it off slowly. Drywall is the easiest surface to remove from. For cabinets and a refrigerator, start in one corner. Slowly peel back using a plastic putty knife to remove the shield. If adhesive still remains, try using vinegar, rubbing alcohol, WD40, Goof Off or another adhesive remover. Just be sure the chemical used does not have any adverse effects on your refrigerator or cabinets finish.
Can I use the oven heat shield on drywall?
Yes it can be used on drywall. We recommend removing all dust from the drywall before applying. We also recommend using dry wall screws as an additional attachment method.
I do not want to use the adhesive backing can I install with it on, and just screw the shield into place?
Yes you can screw the kitchen heat shield into place. If you do not wish to use the adhesive backing, we strongly recommend you remove both the backing paper and the adhesive from the shield first, then screw into place.
