Lava™ Tube Shield- Volcanic Rock Heat Resistant Wire Sleeve
Use this heat shield sleeve to protect oil lines near hot exhaust and turbos. Lava™ Tube may also be used to shield fuel lines and wire looms from heat damage.
- Shield turbo oil lines and other applications near exhaust heat
- Volcanic rock fiber naturally chemical and acid resistant
- Protects fuel lines, brake lines, clutch cables/lines
- Face hook & loop seam away from heat source
- Made in the USA
This heat resistant wire sleeve is a heavy duty tube-shaped heat guard product designed to protect sensitive components in environments with excessive ambient temperatures and direct heat. The material is a specially formulated Heatshield Products fibrous thermal barrier weave made from volcanic rock. The basalt fiber allows Lava Tube to protect components from a continuous temperature of 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit and intermittent temperatures of 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes Lava Tube an ideal and superior alternative to silicon-based thermal barrier heat sleeves in applications above 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Lava Tube is also extremely durable against abrasions and chemical exposure.
Fuel Line Heat Sleeve & Heat Resistant Wire Loom
Lava™ Tube can shield fuel lines from heat damage and act as a heat sleeve for wire looms. By installing a heat shield sleeve to protect fuel lines, you can reduce the risk of fuel vaporization and any subsequent engine performance issues that might arise as a result. Furthermore, installing a Lava Tube over a wire loom can prevent excessive heat from causing wire insulation degradation and melting, short-circuits, and potentially even fires.
Lava™ Tube shield has been designed with a special hook-and-loop fastener system so that it can be installed without the need for disassembling components or removing lines and hoses. The Lava Tube high-temperature wire sleeve is available in four diameters ranging from 1/2-inch to 1 1/2-inches, and either 3-foot- or 10-foot-long rolls. It can be easily cut to length, but we strongly recommend using heat shield tape or heat shrink on the end to reduce fraying.
Is it okay for the Lava Tube to touch the exhaust pipe?
Yes- As long as it is not the Velcro seam and the exhaust system component does not exceed the 1200 F rating.
Can I put the Lava Tube around a small exhaust pipe?
No-In this configuration the Lava Tube is designed to just shield heat away. Installing the Lava Tube on an exhaust system could has the high temp Velcro to melt and create serious problems.
